Indian Nurse in trouble in Qatar – Pravasi Legal Cell intervenes
An Indian nurse is in trouble in Qatar due to the negligence of officials of a major private hospital in Delhi. Mr. Sunu Skaria, who recently got a new job in Qatar was a former employee of Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket from 2008 to 2012.
While joining the new office, he submitted the experience certificate that was issued to him by the Hospital along with all other documents. Sunu’s troubles began when Dataflow, an international verification agency, contacted the hospital for verification of his work experience and the hospital officials erroneously reported that it was not genuine.
On receiving show cause notice from the new office, Sunu contacted the hospital officials in Delhi with proofs of his working in the hospital previously. But the hospital refused to entertain the plea and rectify their error.
Forging of documents for employment purposes is considered a serious crime all over the world. This can result in lose of employment, imprisonment, and being blacklisted. Explaining these threats to his life and livelihood, he attempted many a time through different modes to contact and get clarification from the hospital. He even made a representation to the Indian Ambassador in Qatar, but unfortunately all without any success.
He then contacted Pravasi Legal Cell in Delhi and through its president, Adv. Jose Abraham, sent a legal notice to the hospital, categorically stating that the hospital will solely be responsible for any damage that he suffers due to the laxity of its officials. The hospital immediately responded, acknowledging that he was a former employee of theirs and issued a fresh work experience certificate to him.
Sunu hopes that this solves his problem and he can continue working without any threat or legal trouble. In the meanwhile, Pravasi Legal Cell has decided to move the court claiming compensation for the damages and harassment that Mr. Sunu had to undergo. It will also ensure that such things do not happen with other employees in the future.
